Just how many backlinks do you need to rank on Google’s first page? That’s one question that many people ask when it comes to SEO. To be honest, there’s no definite formula to tell the exact number of backlinks a business needs to rank on Google, but a good starting point is to make sure you have more quality backlinks than your competition. However, there are many factors that help determine how many backlinks your website needs to drive results and rank higher. Can you tell me bit about your link building strategy?
We start by assessing your website at ahrefs.com to determine your current backlinks and unique referring domains totals. The more high-quality backlinks and the more unique referring domains you have the more valuable your website is to search engines. Our goal is to provide as many unique domain backlinks to your website as possible. As an example of what doesn’t work, if your website has obtained 30 new backlinks exclusively from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts, then you’ve only effectively added three unique domains from very popular domains as opposed to 30 unique domain backlinks from 30 different domains. You will ultimately have more than one backlink from some of the same domains, and they are valuable, but the unique domain backlinks are typically significantly more value overall. Focusing on the number of backlinks rather than the quality of them is a common mistake. Backlinks are not all equal in value. One high-quality backlink can easily be worth 1000+ low-quality backlinks. Therefore, it’s not simply a numbers game in which whoever has the most backlinks ranks highest. Next, we use a lot of Tier-2 backlinks which add additional value of your main backlinks. Finally, Tier-3 backlinks, which are often social media posts, are sometimes created to point to your Tier-2 backlinks to improve their search engine value. In short, It is not enough just to have links from high value domains pointing directly to your domain; the Tier-2 and Tier-3 links can really be the game changer in the overall performance of your backlink campaign.
Will you be creating manual links that are relevant to my business?
Yes, all the backlinks created for your website will be manually created. We collect business centric keywords from you that are specific to your needs, and a paragraph or two describing what you do using as many of your keywords as possible. For example, we promote a local gym in Tallahassee. Their keywords could be: fitness center, gym membership, personal training, group fitness, and health and fitness near me. Their description might be, “Momentum Fitness was founded on the desire to foster healthy lifestyles of all different shapes and sizes. A gym, built on community, with trainers and members who encourage and inspire one another to achieve your fitness and nutrition goals.”.
What keywords will you be targeting?
We typically target 5 of your top keyword combinations per month and rotate new keywords in monthly to insure that all the best keywords for your needs are represented in your backlinks. We welcome your input on determining the top keyword combinations to meet your needs, but we will do extensive research on your behalf using the Google Keyword planner to come up with the 20 highest traffic search terms that match your business needs to insure the top keywords combinations selected for you also receive the most traffic specific to your needs.
Approximately how many months will it take to outrank my competition?
There can be no promise as to how many months it would take to outrank your competition in the search engines since we would need to know how much of an SEO head start they have and how hard they are working on their own SEO. Backlinks improve your URL rating (UR), domain rating (DR), page authority (PA), and domain authority (DA) as you can see in the sample report for Momentum Fitness. These SEO ranking factors, influence your position in search engines, but these are not the only factors. The more high-quality backlinks from unique domains you have compared to your competition, the higher you will rank (all else being equal). That being said you must keep in mind that websites that are clicked and viewed more often rank higher those that are not, thus those that run Google AdWords will often rank higher in organic search results than you, even when you have more backlinks. This is because they are getting clicked and viewed all the time since they are paying to be at the top via paid ads. Most of our clients run a continual SEO campaign to consistently improve their backlink advantage over their competition. Understandably cost is always a concern, but, as a provider of high quality SEO services, nothing is expensive when it’s worth what you pay for it.
What type of SEO reporting can I expect from you? Can you send me an example report?
Below is the report we provide Momentum Fitness. You will notice that in the first few months, their backlinks count increased slowly. This is because we want to show natural backlink growth such that Google does not flag new backlinks because they were added unrealistically fast. During the early months of your SEO campaign, we spend a lot more time focusing on the Tier-2 and Tier-3 links to a smaller number of backlinks. The other thing to keep in mind is that it can take a while for search engines to naturally find your links, so you should expect a 30-60 day delay giving search engines adequate time to discover your new backlinks. “Force feeding” backlinks to search engines is ill-advised, thus anyone providing you with backlinks that also offers a service to insert them in the search engines is likely hurting your SEO more than helping it. As for cost of the results shown in the SEO report below, we do $449 worth of off-site SEO per month for Momentum Fitness, but their promotional needs are likely higher than yours.
